You Can Order an Entire Holiday Meal from Whole Foods — Just in Case You Don’t Feel Like Cooking
If you made a big Thanksgiving feast last month, you may be feeling a little burned-out on holiday cooking. And if the thought of cooking turkey, Brussels sprouts, and carrots (which all made this year’s list of the most Instagrammable festive foods) again exhausts you, then Whole Foods is here to save the day.
The grocery giant is offering itself as a one-stop shop for those who need a quick and easy meal that still tops the charts with taste. And like years past, the holiday menu includes plenty of pre-made options that are designed to feed anywhere from intimate parties of two to large parties of 12. If you’ve never shopped the holiday menu at Whole Foods, you may be wondering just what you can expect: Well, let me tell you, the options are expansive and they won’t necessarily break the bank.
For those just looking to shop appetizers, there’s a shrimp platter that serves 10 to 12 people for just $28. Or go with one of their full-on holiday entertaining packages that starts at just $60: These packages include a variety of items like crab bites, shrimp, honey-chipotle turkey cocktail meatballs, spinach-artichoke puffs, and more. The actual meals, however — which start as low as $40 for a vegan option — range from a lamb shank meal (herb and red wine braised lamb shanks, creamed spinach and kale, cider-roasted Brussels sprouts, and truffled Parmesan mashed potatoes) to a pricier feast that features both prime rib roast and spiral-sliced ham as the stars of the show.
Just need sides or desserts instead of a full meal? Don’t worry — Whole Foods has those options, too. From an all-organic sides package that includes creamed spinach and kale, herb stuffing, turkey gravy, and more for $65, to a Southern-based package that features fixings such as green bean casserole, candied yams, and more for $55, you’ll be good to go this holiday season. And of course, desserts like apple pie, cherry pie, pecan pie, yule logs, and dessert cheese platters are all available, too.
So, if you’re looking to cut down on the amount of time in the kitchen for the month of December, here’s the way you can do it. And since the reheat time for these meals takes no more than three hours, you can have everything ready to go before you guests even know you didn’t make it all yourself. Just be sure to remember that you have until December 23 to place your order online (they must be placed at least 24 hours in advance) and pickups are only offered up until Christmas Eve.
And if you end up with a good amount of leftover Brussels sprouts from your Whole Foods order, you can always make a delicious Brussels sprouts quiche to wow everyone for breakfast or brunch the next day.
