If there was a ranking of all the food that make me feel nostalgic, meatloaf would be up there. No, my parents never made meatloaf for dinner, but I did have it regularly at my middle school cafeteria in Minnesota. No burger or meatball will suffice when meatloaf is on the brain. The deeply savory meat matched with ketchup (yes, ketchup needs to be involved) is pure comfort food.

I imagine many people grow up with their mom’s secret recipe or something their great-great-grandparent passed down, but I am not one of those people. And because of it, I’m currently on the prowl for a new recipe to try out. If you’re like me, Pinterest says you should give this meatloaf a spin.

The most popular meatloaf recipe on Pinterest is this one from Pip and Ebby. It’s titled the “Best Ever Meatloaf” so it has a lot of expectations to live up to. So far it’s been pinned 82,000 times in 2017. That’s a whole lot of ground beef.

Most meatloaf recipes are kind of the same. There’s some kind of ground meat, usually beef, with egg, seasoning, and ketchup. What makes this particular meatloaf recipe from Pip and Ebby special, I think, is the use of crushed Rtiz crackers. In Kitchn’s recipe for meatloaf we use torn bread, but I’m super curious about using the cracker instead. Does it add a different texture to the loaf? Does it make the recipe a little more salty? I need to try it out.
