Yes, Target Is Actually Selling a Cheese Advent Calendar
In the last couple years, Advent calendars have become more and more creative. We’ve seen a few boozy calendars pop up (including this awesome one from Aldi), and of course there’s the Reese’s one that sounds delicious. But this new one from Target might be the best of the bunch. The retailer recently collaborated with British blogger-turned-mogul Annem Hobson who invented the “world’s first cheese advent calendar.”
The blogger created her calendar a few years ago, and droves of people requested one for themselves. After more than a few were sold, (11,000 orders alone), the Advent cheese calendar was sold last year in UK retailer Asda. This year, France, Denmark, Portugal and the U.S. get a chance to grab a mouth-watering assortment of 24 cheeses.
The calendar includes five varieties, “curated with help from Somerset, U.K.-based Norseland,” Hobson says on So Wrong It’s Nom. “This year’s Advent calendar features sweet and nutty Jarlsberg; smoky, paprika-dusted Applewood cheddar; and two types of Ilchester cheddar (one earthy and tangy and the other more smooth and nutty).”
Hobson adds that the 5th variety “is a limited edition Ilchester — the gold-award winning Wensleydale with cranberries, a creamy and smooth cheese punctuated with festive cranberries.”
Although available since early November, Hobson’s highly anticipated cheese Advent calendar will be hitting only 247 Target stores throughout the U.S. (If you’re in the D.C. Metro area, for instance, they’re not available in MD or D.C., but in a few Virginian stores.)
Christmas may bring gifts, but at $20, we won’t really need to look too hard to find there are bite-sized surprises built into every single moment of the holiday season.
