I grew up in the South, and those sweltering summers taught me not to wait for cooler weather to enjoy fall foods. So it’s not a problem when it hits triple-digit degrees come September. For me, it’s a golden opportunity to reinvent my favorite foods. Meet: pumpkin spice frozen latte

What is a pumpkin spice frozen latte? It’s a blended iced coffee drink made with ice, coffee concentrate, milk, pumpkin spice syrup, pumpkin spice, and pumpkin purée.

Ingredients in Pumpkin Spice Frozen Latte

  • Ice: This recipe was developed with two cups of cubed ice, measured in a large measuring glass. So if you are using cubed ice, make sure to use a large 2-cup vessel instead of a 1-cup scoop because you’ll end up with more ice than intended.
  • Coffee concentrate or espresso: The concentrated flavors will ensure the drink is not too diluted when blended with ice.
  • Whole milk or half-and-half: The more fat the better, as it will be blended with ice. If using a milk alternative like oat, use full-fat as well.
  • Flavored syrup: I suggest pumpkin spice or caramel syrup, but you can also make a simple syrup at home if you’re in a pinch. You can use up the rest of the flavored syrup in other coffee drinks.
  • Pumpkin purée:  For enhanced pumpkin flavor, I’ve added pumpkin purée to the recipe. It rounds out the drink and contributes to a smooth consistency. Make sure to pick one up that’s 100% pumpkin purée, and not pumpkin pie purée.
  • Pumpkin spice: This adds the essential aromatic flavors of pumpkin spice. You can purchase store-bought spice or make it at home.

How to Serve Pumpkin Spice Frozen Latte

Enjoy your pumpkin spice frozen latte right after it’s blended — don’t wait! As the ice melts, the latte will become more diluted. Top with whipped cream and a dash of pumpkin spice.
