We are huge Fixer Upper fans here at Kitchn, so we were thrilled when Joanna Gaines released her debut cookbook, Magnolia Table, in April. Filled with recipes for everything from lemon pie to beef bulgogi, this cookbook is probably the closest thing we’ll ever get to actually eating at Joanna’s (perfectly chic farmhouse) table.

If you’re looking for a taste of Magnolia Table, here are eight recipes to try. One bite of Jo Jo’s Biscuits and we can pretty much guarantee you’ll be running to order the book!

This classic chocolate chip cookie has a surprising secret: It cuts back on the butter! Of this decision, Joanna says, “I do truly believe that butter makes everything better and no one is more surprised than I am about how amazing these taste even though they’re made with less of the good stuff than most traditional chocolate chip cookies.”

2. Jo Jo’s Biscuits via Real Simple

What would a Southern cookbook be without a biscuit recipe? This one totally delivers. Eat ’em for breakfast with butter and jam, or use ’em to assemble the best fried chicken sandwich ever.

3. Peach Caprese Salad via PureWow

Caprese salad is a summertime staple, but Joanna’s recipe switches out the traditional tomatoes for fresh, juicy peaches. The combination of sweet peaches and milky mozzarella is basically heaven on a plate.

4. Asparagus & Fontina Quiche via Real Simple

Now is the perfect time to make this recipe, as it’s prime asparagus season! A quintessential brunch dish, this quiche is great for feeding a crowd. Just add mimosas and bacon.

Looking for something a little lighter than biscuits and cookies? This grilled salmon is just the ticket. With summer in full swing, this succulent salmon with its accompanying crunchy cuke salad is the perfect meal to enjoy al fresco.

This Korean beef dish is packed with flavor, thanks to its sweet-salty marinade and smoky kiss from the grill. Paired with a bright cucumber kimchi salad and fluffy white rice, it’s definitely a dinner win.

7. Fried Chicken with Sticky Poppy Seed Jam via Better Homes & Gardens

Remember those biscuits from earlier? Yeah, this is the fried chicken to serve them with. The key to success with this recipe is first brining the chicken overnight in a buttermilk mixture to ensure it’s nice and juicy once fried. Also, don’t sleep on the poppy seed jam — it totally makes the dish!

8. Lemon Pie via Southern Living

This lemon pie just screams summer. It features a graham cracker crust, a lemony sweetened condensed milk filling, and a vanilla whipped cream topping. With so few ingredients and such easy steps, this is a pie that anyone can make when the craving strikes.
