Nearly six months ago, I took the plunge and added an air fryer to my kitchen. More specifically, the Cosori 12-in-1 Air Fryer Toaster Combo, which, you might have guessed by the name, packs 12 different functions into one appliance.

I’d been curious about air fryers for a while, but my years spent in cramped New York City kitchens made me wary of unitasker appliances. So even after moving to a place with ample kitchen space, I held off. This Cosori model changed my mind because it does a whole lot more than air frying — it’s also a toaster oven and it can make a rotisserie chicken. I was ready to give it a chance! I’ve used it for kale chips and zucchini fries, indoor s’mores and chocolate chip cookies, chicken tenders and tater tots, and, of course, I roasted up a whole, juicy chicken. Here’s my in-depth, totally honest review.

What Is the Cosori 12-in-1 Air Fryer Toaster Combo?

Let’s start with a quick explainer. The Cosori 12-in-1 Air Fryer Toaster Combo is a countertop appliance that looks very much like a large standard toaster oven. It has 12 different functions (air fryer, bake, and rotisserie, being the most popular), as well as pre-set functions for dehydrating, fermenting, toasting, cookies, pizza, and bagels.

My First Impression of the Cosori 12-in-1 Air Fryer Toaster Combo

The Cosori Air Fryer Toaster arrived in a huge (like, really huge) box, which I eventually learned when I was finally brave enough to unpack it, is because this appliance is also quite large.

In addition to the appliance, you get several extra pieces (that you’d expect to see with a toaster oven or air fryer): a crumb tray, food tray, fry basket, and wire rack, as well as a rotisserie fork set and handle, thorough instruction booklet, and recipe book.

There are several positions for the different trays and baskets inside the toaster, and the door is labeled with where everything should go based on function, so there’s no guesswork or glancing at the instruction book for reference. (A small, but super helpful feature.)

There are two knobs (to shift between function and adjust cook time and temperature), which are easy and intuitive to use. After a quick glance through the instruction book, I was ready to go.

My Honest Review of the Cosori 12-in-1 Air Fryer Toaster Combo

As I mentioned this appliance is big. It’s really big, actually. If I was still in an apartment kitchen, this air fryer toaster wouldn’t be an option because there would simply be no space for it, countertop or otherwise. But my current kitchen happens to have a nook that’s just the right size.

By now I’ve tested out nearly all of the Air Fryer Toaster Combo’s functions, and have to say that I really enjoying having it in the kitchen and use it more than expected. Most of all, I use the functions for air frying, baking, broiling, toasting, and rotisserie chicken.

Air frying: To me, one of the biggest benefits of this model over the standard air fryer is that is that has a much larger surface area for cooking. I’ve made chicken fingers, zucchini fries, Brussels sprouts, tater tots, and more — all with wonderful and successful results. Air fryer s’mores have been a particular hit. And it makes all of these things much quicker than my oven could. My only regret is that I haven’t made bacon in the air fryer yet.

Baking: Even though there’s a preset for cookies, I found myself defaulting to the bake function. It gives me more control and the cookies have come out great: crispy edges and browned bottoms with perfectly chewy middles.

Broiling: With the food tray positioned all the way up, this top-down cook function is perfect for quickly melting and/or browning cheese on top of just about anything. I also like it for reheating pizza and cooking small salmon fillets in mere minutes.

Toasting: The tray can hold up to six slices of bread or waffles. While it does take a little longer than a toaster, it does mean my family of three can all eat hot waffles, toast, or bagels for breakfast at the same time, which is pretty great.

Dehydrating: I was inspired by the accompanying recipe booklet to make kale chips (which I typically make in the oven), using the dehydrate function. The process is time-intensive, but super low-effort, and made shatteringly crisp and impressive kale chips.

Rotisserie: You can fit up to a five-pound chicken in here to cook rotisserie-style. The instructions for setting up the fork and handle were pretty straightforward, as was prepping the chicken. Do follow the instructions to truss the bird with kitchen twine, though. I didn’t do this the first time around, and ended up having to take the chicken out and roast it in the oven instead.

Pizza: The toaster is large enough to hold a 13-inch pizza. I haven’t used it for making homemade pizza and plan to stick with my regular oven for that, as this Cosori model only heats to 450ºF, and I prefer to crank up the oven even higher for pizza night. But for frozen pizza, I like this guy!

One tip: Regardless of the function used, if you’re cooking anything greasy, place a small pan on the bottom to catch any drippings. The crumb tray isn’t really sturdy enough for this task.

My Final Thoughts

Initially, I was turned off by the size of the toaster. It’s just so big. But the more I used it, the less it bothered me, and the less I even noticed its size. While I was initially interested in the air fryer function, I find that use the other presets just as much, if not more. It also proved really helpful throughout the summer months when it felt way too hot to turn on the oven. I used this instead, and while it does get hot and emit heat, it’s not as much as a standard oven. I like this for families for everyday use, and also anyone doing a kitchen renovation that limits access to an oven.
