There’s nothing like the innocent, unbridled joy of a child. If you’re in need of something to brighten up this weird, gray week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, then you need to see this video of an adorable little boy’s reaction to getting a banana for Christmas.

Twitter user Dustin Griffie gave his 2-year-old nephew, Mason, a banana for Christmas. He put the banana in a box and wrapped it up like a normal present. When Mason opened the box on Christmas and discovered it was a piece of fruit, he was positively ecstatic.

“Banana!” he cried, holding it aloft triumphantly. “I got banana!”

Mason showed it to all the adults in the room, repeating over and over again that he’d gotten a banana. People have gotten puppies and been less excited than this kid was about his banana.

“I’m going to bring it home!” he gushed to his mother. And he very politely said “thank you” with just a little bit of prompting from her.

Dustin Griffie posted the video on Twitter and declared the banana gift to be an unqualified success. But the internet could not get enough of Mason’s over-the-top enthusiasm for that banana, and the video immediately started going viral. In just a day, the video has been viewed nearly 10 million times, liked more than 764,000 times, and retweeted more than 284,000 times.

Everybody loves Mason almost as much as he loves his banana.

Dustin Griffie was gobsmacked by the attention his video received. He says Mason often reacts like that.

“Shocked at the response! This is my nephew Mason. He is just about 2 1/2 and is a huge @GoldenKnights hockey fan and a Disney fanatic,” he wrote. “We love him very much and get these types of reactions all the time, he is absolutely hilarious.”

Mason is just the sweetest. I hope he gets all the bananas he can eat.
