I’ll admit that most things in my kitchen are geared towards convenience. While I was in college, ease and speed were the two qualities I looked for in a product over anything else — well, along with an affordable price tag. My priorities have changed in the months since graduation. I’ve been spending more time at home, so I’ve started swapping out the kitchen tools I accumulated during my student years. My worn out fry pan has been replaced by a trusty Always Pan, for one, and my cheap blender has been switched for Beast’s ultra-efficient model. Slowly but surely, I’m getting there!

My most recent upgrade? My coffee maker. After half a decade, I’ve finally gotten around to replacing my Keurig. Don’t get me wrong: It’s served me well. In fact, it was the first item I bought for my dorm during freshman year — but Mr. Coffee’s 4-in-1 Single-Serve Latte Lux is a major step up. It requires nearly as little effort as my old pod-using machine, but it has the major benefit of being able to whip up café-quality iced coffee, lattes, and cappuccinos. What’s more, it’s on sale for only $130 right now!

What is the Mr. Coffee 4-in-1 Single-Serve Latte Lux, Iced, and Hot Coffee Maker with Milk Frother?

With its ability to produce four different kinds of drinks — it also makes regular hot coffee in addition to iced — this do-it-all machine will make you feel like a barista, with zero skill needed on your part. Instead of pods, it uses a reusable filter, so all you need is your favorite coffee blend and your milk of choice. It comes with a dual-sided measuring scoop to guarantee that your cup won’t be watered down, and it can produce anything from a concentrated shot to an 8-, 12-, or 16-ounce beverage. There’s also a fast-working, built-in frother that delivers the perfect ratio of hot or cold foam at the press of a button. Plus, it comes with a tumbler!

Why I Love the Mr. Coffee 4-in-1 Single-Serve Latte Lux

I wouldn’t say I’m a coffee snob — my years-long use of my old machine proves that — but this coffee machine is top-tier. There’s nothing too fancy about it: There are only four buttons involved, and the instructions for making all four types of drinks are straightforward. But, even though it boasts a simple, no-frills design, the coffee it makes is beyond impressive. Following a quick wash of all of the pieces, my first test was a hot latte, and I followed every step in the included guide to the letter. I pulled the scoop out from where it sticks on the side of the machine, and filled the designated “hot” side with coffee grounds. After dumping it into the reusable filter, I poured the instructed amount of water in the reservoir and pushed a button. That’s it!

While that was running, I got the milk frother going simultaneously to save time. Though the brand recommends whole milk for the creamiest froth, I used oat milk. Thankfully, the result was a warm and thick foam that paired perfectly with the brew, creating a more subtle taste. I was equally impressed with the cappuccino it made next. Since it calls for less milk, the flavor was stronger, but not overwhelmingly so. The iced feature was the one I was looking forward to testing the most — but it’s also the one I was most unsure of. I’m happy to report, however, that my coffee wasn’t at all watered-down like I’d expected. The ice cubes did melt slightly while it was brewing, but I expected as much since I didn’t load my tumbler all the way up to the fill line. Still, the brew packed enough of a punch taste-wise that I hardly noticed.

Considering that it’s also easy to clean and takes up minimal space on my countertop — it’s about the same size as my Keurig — this multifunctional brewer has so much going for it that I’m shocked it’s priced at only $130. With over 500 perfect ratings, Amazon shoppers seem to agree, too. You’ll never feel the need to go to the coffee shop again, so really, you’ll end up saving a ton of money in no time.
