Fun fact: I have randomly screamed “I’m not Josie Grossie anymore!” more times than I can count. If you’re not hip to that line, I automatically assume 1999’s Never Been Kissed — which sees iconic actress Drew Barrymore in the role of a journalist (um, hello?!) — has never been on your list of things to watch. But unlike her decades-old character Josie Geller, Drew never has a problem with people knowing her name.

Though the Charlie’s Angels alum can be known by many names and titles nowadays — including TV show host, entrepreneur, and author — there’s one in particular that sticks out the most: Chief Mom Officer. And if you’re thinking the nickname was graciously given to her by her children, think again.

Adopting the funky new title just last year, Chief Mom Officer was derived from Drew’s current multi-year collaboration with Quorn. Now I’m sure you’re wondering, “What is a Quorn? It must be chicken since there’s a huge one being used as their mascot, right?” Well, not technically.

Drew has joined forces with the brand that offers a variety of meatless chicken options, to help extend its mission to provide healthy food for people and the planet. And while pronounced like the corn you actually eat, the brand isn’t quite serving up a trifecta side dish (is it a veggie, fruit, or a grain?!), nor is it serving up chicken itself. It is, however, serving up a sustainable food that you’ve probably never heard of: mycoprotein.

If this term is also one you’re not familiar with, don’t worry; the superstar team knows that and that’s where their new animated video comes into play. And in an effort to educate the masses (or maybe just me!), the generational icon so graciously offered up a bit of her time to Kitchn to talk about the ongoing collaboration, the new “Mycoprotein 101” short, her favorite recipes, an exclusive update on Beautiful Kitchenware, and much more. (Spoiler alert: the recipes absolutely involve her Beautiful Kitchenware air fryer!)
