In 2021 Kitchn was invited to participate in a white paper process with Studio ATAO, a community-based think tank dedicated to moving the food, beverage, and hospitality industry forward through social justice research and education. Over the past year, Studio ATAO followed and documented the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives of Kitchn and its parent company, Apartment Therapy Media. They shared the process and learnings in a formal white paper.

The goal was to transparently document our initiatives within Human Resources and editorial, and to candidly offer insights and learnings from our experience for others in the food media industry at large. Studio ATAO documented what the plans for the year were, how they progressed, and what the outcomes seemed to be.

This white paper is now complete and available to read, if you would like! Please follow @studioatao — they’re doing really important and meaningful work in our industry.
