I consider myself an ice cream aficionado. As my go-to dessert since before I can remember, I have been known to eat it multiple times a week (don’t judge) without ever getting sick of it. Naturally, I’ve tried so many brands I’ve lost count — from Ben & Jerry’s and Häagen-Dazs to H‑E‑B‘s Creamy Creations, courtesy of my home state. (Let me tell you, non-Texans are seriously missing out, especially on the Banana Nut flavor). I don’t think I’ve ever encountered an ice cream I didn’t enjoy, and no matter what, I can rely on the sweet treat to brighten my day.

But, even though I might even go so far to call myself an expert on all things ice cream, I’ve never actually made the dessert with my own two hands. For some reason or another, I’ve just never gotten around to it or had the time, even though people who make it rave about both the quality of the end result and the experience. However, lack of time won’t stand in the way of my ice cream-making dreams anymore — once I get my hands on the Dash My Mug Ice Cream Maker, I’ll be able to whip up a single serving in no time at all.

What is the My Mug Ice Cream Maker?

After freezing the base for a day and throwing your ingredients in, all you have to do is put the motor on top and press the button to mix, and you’ve got a delicious cold treat — gelato, frozen yogurt, and sorbet are also at your fingertips — in less than half an hour. It really is as simple as that — the My Mug Ice Cream Maker doesn’t require any pre-made ice cream mix or any other steps.

You can also add plenty of toppings: As the device churns, it also has a built-in chute for tossing in other ingredients. And, if you don’t finish your ice cream, it also works as a freezable mug, so you can save it for later without any issue. Plus, it’s compact enough that it’ll hardly take up any space at all in your freezer, as opposed to most options on the market. If you aren’t sure where to start — there really are endless options — your order comes with a recipe guide!

What Amazon Reviewers are Saying

Average Rating: 4.1/5

“Let me start by saying I was SO worried when I saw that tiny little paddle. I did not think it was going to be strong enough to really churn the ice cream very well. But I was proved wrong. This little bowl is great, and with the two-pack I was able to grab one bowl for each kid.” – Naomi D. Nakashima

“I love that you can completely customize your ice cream since we have family members with dairy allergies. Overall, super easy to use, easy to clean, and love that you can make a new flavor every night!! Great alternative to expensive ice cream makers.” – Sam

“Just made my first batch of strawberry ice cream using farmers marked fresh strawberries, oat milk, heavy cream, sugar and vanilla. It is the best strawberry ice cream EVER! This little thing works. Now that I have basic proportions down, I can’t wait to add different ingredients.” – M. Catton

At a fraction of the price of most other bulky ice cream makers, this handy $40 gadget is a must if you’ve been craving some homemade ice cream. You’ll want to grab the set of two bowls, so that you can share with others — or have one handy if the other is in the dishwasher!
