For a few weeks now, I’ve been eyeing fancy milk frothers. I initially wanted to splurge and get a countertop frother, like this AEVO Milk Frother I came across recently and loved. The idea of having warm frothed milk at the press of a button sounded like the ultimate indulgence. However, I wasn’t entirely sure if this gadget really was worth the steep price point, especially if I’m only ever frothing a splash of milk for my morning coffee or tea.

Instead, I decided to test the waters with a budget-friendly option. I landed on the highly-reviewed (we’re talking a whopping 67,000 Amazon ratings!) Bonsenkitchen Electric Milk Frother, which was ranked on our Best List. Since I started using this frother with my coffee and tea, I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how powerful it is! It has quickly become a daily favorite and has wound up doing much more than just froth milk. And on sale at under $10, let’s just say that this milk frother is more than worth the price.

Previously, the only handheld milk frother I’d tried was a $3 IKEA model. It worked for a little while, but after some time, the wand would wiggle back and forth making a mess (and non-frothed milk). I thought all the handheld options would be like this, which is why it took me years before trying another version. After using the Bosenkitchen Frother for the first time, I was shocked by how well it worked and how noticeably powerful it was.

For starters, I like the size of this frother and that the handheld part feels sturdy and robust. All you have to do is press the button and get to whisking. Immediately, I was able to froth about a quarter cup of oat milk to double in size in just seconds. I think it’s important to note that I used to make cappuccinos and lattes as a waitress, and this little tool has been able to froth milk just as well as the machine we used — and it’s much easier! I usually fill a cup with a little milk, microwave it for 30 seconds, and then whisk it into frothy goodness before pouring it over coffee, black tea, or matcha.

As someone without any sort of mixing gadgets — I’m talking a stand mixer, hand mixer, or immersion blender — I’ve found that this frother has also come in handy in several surprising ways. Unlike the fancy frothers I’d been initially eyeing, this one basically doubles as a powerful little whisk. Most frequently, I use it for whisking matcha as well as making homemade whipped cream in under a minute. Enjoying a scoop of ice cream with a single-serve dollop of whipped cream has been just delightful. And, while reading Amazon reviews, tons of people noted that they use it daily for mixing protein shakes and even scrambling eggs.

Essentially, if you’ve always envisioned making your own barista-level drinks at home, I stand by this electric milk frother as a solid choice. I love that it upgrades my coffee and tea drinks, but that it has also proved useful in a variety of other ways, especially in my small kitchen where I try to limit the number of gadgets I own. And at this sale price of just $9, it’s a bargain that will make a big difference!
