Blake Shelton and Carson Daly’s Bar-Themed Game Show Will Have Your Favorite Celebs as Contestants
As a true ’90s kid, if there’s one person that could speak to my childhood, it’s Carson Daly. Although the days of the former VJ hosting MTV’s iconic TRL are long gone, I always feel a sense of nostalgia and crack a little smile every time I see him in his new “grown-up” gigs. While TRL was definitely a “grown-up” gig too, his newest venture is really a testament to us growing up together like the BFFs I always knew we would be.
As it turns out, music videos and interviewing celebs aren’t the only thing that Daly and I have in common — because we both actually like a good bar hangout, too. The only difference between me and him, however, is that now he gets to display his love for the aforementioned on TV and it’s alongside Blake Shelton and their celebrity friends. Jealous? Don’t worry, me too!
Set to premiere on December 5, Daly and Shelton will take their friendship past The Voice stage and into Nashville with a trendy new show starring them both: Barmageddon. And, of course, it’s shot right in Blake’s own Nashville Bar, Ole Red.
“Barmageddon is a show where the celebrities you love give viral video sensations a shot at redemption, playing some crazy games,” Daly says in the trailer for the new show. “It’s a show that’s shot right here in Nashville, Tennessee, in Blake’s bar, Ole Red. This is your home. This is your bar.”
The show, which is hosted by WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella, will see a slew of the crew’s celeb friends let loose and compete in five of creative “over-the-top” bar games in each episode including air cannon cornhole, keg curling, and more. So what happens if they lose? There’s always a chance for redemption. Guests spin the Wheel of Redemption and, if they’re up for the challenge — like taking shots of tequila, tabasco, and mayonnaise — they can up their points and put themselves back in the running.
Don’t think they’re giving you subpar guests for this first season, either. As it stands currently, Shelton’s wife, Gwen Stefani, will appear on the show going head to head against Sheryl Crow while WWE stars Sasha Banks and Brie Bella are set to compete against each other, too. Other guests like Elle King, Jimmie Johnson, Lil Rel Howery, Jay Pharoah, Kane Brown, Cheris Young, Trace Adkins, and Clint Bowyer will also get their chance to battle it out in the bar. A good time indeed!
Barmageddon will premiere on Monday, December 5, on USA Network at 9 p.m. EST. Check out the full trailer below.
