Frozen appetizers scream the holidays to me. When I was growing up, I remember every major holiday meal beginning with flaky mini quiche filled with silky egg and cheese and smoky mini hot dogs wrapped in layers of buttery puff pastry. While waiting for the ball to drop on New Year’s Eve, our traditional meal was an array of small bites, like Bagel Bites and crispy mini tacos, that we could nosh on throughout the night.

Eating tiny frozen finger foods is an inherently festive experience, be it for a holiday gathering, a dinner party, or just an otherwise uneventful evening at home. And one of the best places to stock up on these mini bites is Target. The brand’s Good & Gather grocery line has exploded in recent years, and now includes an array of frozen appetizers that are great for such occasions.

To find the best of the bunch, I recently tried every frozen appetizer available at my local Target. These are the ones that I’ll be keeping stocked in my freezer this holiday season.

Much like their popular cousin crab rangoon, these crispy wonton pouches filled with cream cheese are a crowd-pleaser. They come with a sweet and spicy chili sauce, which creates a cheese-ball-and-pepper-jam vibe when combined with the cream cheese filling. If you’re feeling spicy, Target also makes a jalapeño cream cheese variety that might just edge out the plain ones.

These round bites of corn dough are stuffed with sweet corn kernels and stretchy cheese. The corn-and-cheese combo isn't a typical flavor for mini apps, which will make them stand out at your next cocktail party. They'd be tasty dunked in cranberry sauce or gravy, so you might want to keep them in mind for pre- or post-Thanksgiving snacking.

Soup dumplings are having a moment in freezer sections everywhere. I’ve sampled loads of them, so I was surprised to find that Good & Gather’s dumplings were one of my favorites. The wrappers felt just slightly thicker than some other brands, and my suspicion was confirmed when I found my dimpled plastic tray that held the frozen dumplings was virtually dry after I finished them (compared to some other frozen dumplings that lose all the broth during cooking). These soup dumplings were extra savory with strong flavors of ginger and onion mixed with juicy ground pork, and could easily work as a three-minute meal in a pinch. They were so good I didn't want to share them.

I already spoke of my adoration for mini quiches, and I know many others feel as strongly about them as I do. This variety pack includes three different flavors — three cheese and onion, kale and Swiss, and mushroom and pepper — and all were consistently tasty, so guests will surely clear the platter. The phyllo-dough crust shatters into a buttery crumble when you bite into the silky-smooth egg filling. Keep the party going any time of day with these. They're great for breakfast, brunch, or a light lunch with a salad on the side.

A party without pigs in a blanket is no party I need to attend, and Target's version levels up the savory little snack. Little hot dogs are tucked into soft puff pastry pockets as per usual, but the coating of Parmesan cheese and an everything bagel-like seasoning makes these pigs extra festive. Pro tip: Pair them with a good mustard.
