Martha Stewart has given us so many gems this year. She told us how to get that garlic smell off our fingers, shared her hack on how to make a cheesecloth using household items, and gifted us a mind-blowing, foolproof method to help get all the meat from your lobster tails. The latter of which came in handy for me on more than a few fancy dinners. Oh, and let’s not forget that she announced three new shows, too. But Martha couldn’t end the year without one last gift, which just happens to be one of her — and my — favorite holiday recipes.

Martha Stewart passed by the Today Show to share some of her holiday recipes and tips, including pressed velvet leaves that you can use for decorations and a citrus centerpiece that can brighten any table. But what everyone on set was there for was her very famous and very strong eggnog recipe. “We have about two minutes left … everyone wants to know the recipe,” said host Sheinelle Jones, rushing to the recipe before the segment was over. Here’s how Martha makes it.

Beat egg yolks and gradually add 1 1/2 cups sugar once the yolks are thick and pale yellow. Then, beat in the milk and cream. Add bourbon, rum, and cognac to the mixture while constantly stirring. Before serving, beat egg whites until stiff and slowly whisk in sugar and vanilla extract. Fold it into the mixture before whipping the remaining heavy cream, gradually folding that into the eggnog.

You can find the full recipe here. But be warned, if you make it the next time you host, your guests might stay a little longer than expected. “Thanks for the strong eggnog. Our crew is passing out like flies,” joked Carson Daly after trying the eggnog.
