Have you taken a stroll down the frozen food aisle lately? If so, you might have noticed this year’s bounty of frozen plant-based appetizers are gloriously abundant. Pizza bites, wings, tots, tenders … it’s almost hard to choose. (Really, though, there are no bad choices.)

Which frozen apps should you try? I haven’t eaten meat in more than 10 years and I have plenty of thoughts! Some of these plant-based picks are year-round staples in my house, while others are new to shelves — and my holiday spread — this year. Let’s take a look!

1. Birds Eye Crispy Green Beans

These green beans are lightly breaded, baked (not fried), ready in 10 minutes, and have a five-star rating across multiple grocery sites! I tried them for the first time last year and they reminded me of the ever-popular green bean casserole we nostalgically make on Thanksgiving. I plan to serve them this year at all my holiday gatherings.

2. Gardein Ultimate Plant-Based Chick’n Tenders

These are a ridiculously good alternative to traditional chicken tenders. (I might not eat meat now, but I ate a lot of it when I was growing up, so I’m qualified to weigh in here!) I recommend serving them with a side of hot sauce.

3. Green Giant Broccoli & Cheese Veggie Tots

I love serving these broccoli cheese tots at our family gatherings because it means everyone gets more veggies. These potato-free tots and are made with real cheese and are lower in calories, sodium, and fat than traditional tater tots.

4. Birds Eye Frozen Cauliflower Wings

Like the veggie tots, cauliflower wings are a perfect way to eat more veggies. Lightly breaded and covered with a Buffalo sauce (or garlic Parmesan sauce), these wings cook in just 20 minutes! They’re also way easier for party guests to eat compared to traditional wings.

5. MorningStar Farms Veggitizers Veggie Pepperoni Pizza Bites

These new Veggietizers by MorningStar Farms feature plant-based cheese and pepperoni. They make a great alternative to deep-fried pizza bites (or pizza, for that matter). I serve these on a large platter with some marinara sauce.

6. Eggland’s Best Three Cheese Egg Bites

These bites, from one of my all-time favorite egg brands, are made with cage-free eggs and have 14 grams of protein per serving. At four per box you’ll need to buy multiple boxes if you’re hosting a slightly bigger group, but they’re worth it — especially if you’re having a brunch-y sort of afternoon shindig.
