In the last couple years the cauliflower gnocchi from Trader Joe’s has reached cult status. It’s low in carbs which many people are looking for, it’s budget-friendly, and it’s relatively fast and easy to make. I’ve seen a lot of creative ways to use the freezer-friendly find at home, but until today I’ve never seen it as a dessert. Instagrammer @lovelydelites has taken it to the next level by recreating the flavors and textures of the classic cinnamon roll.

The blogger describes this dish as “vegan, gluten-free and so freaking delicious.” To prepare the semi-homemade brunch mashup, she sprayed her air-fryer pan with coconut oil to prevent sticking then put the whole bag of gnocchi in for about five minutes. When she took them out, she tossed them with cinnamon and sugar before re-frying them for another 10 or so minutes, just enough to get them “ooey and gooey like the center of the cinnamon roll,” which she correctly points out is the best part. For the frosting, she combines powdered sugar and nut milk and drizzles it on top. (For full instructions, click through to her post).

Most of the reactions to the Instagram post are positive. Most people called Hannah, the blogger behind @lovelydelites, a “genius” and that they “love this idea.” When @traderjoeslist posted it on their Instagram, they received a similar reaction.

While I’m personally a little dubious about the unconventional gnocchi flavor, I’m not going to knock it until I try it (as I like to tell my toddlers). And I’d like to point out that it might be smart – if you are planning to try the “cinnabunnoch” as it’s being dubbed — that you could try and swap in the new cinnamon bun spread for the cinnamon sugar. Just a thought.
