Making cold brew coffee at home comes with its share of challenges. To name a few, not getting the coffee-to-water ratio correct can result in a bitter or flavorless brew, it’s notoriously messy, and requires equipment that some basic kitchens just don’t have, like cheesecloth or a fine-mesh strainer.

While you technically don’t need a dedicated brewer to make cold brew, the right one can make it a lot easier. We’re already fans of the KitchenAid Cold Brew Coffee Maker XL, but normally retailing for $130, its an investment. Which is why we were especially thrilled to find out that for today only, its $80 — almost 40% off — on Amazon. If you’re wondering why we’d suggest buying a cold coffee maker at the end of September, you’ll be thanking us when the temperatures warm back up. But we know plenty of year-round cold brew drinkers who should be jumping at the opportunity to save on this at-home system.

Making cold brew in your KitchenAid is a simple two-step process: Add coarsely ground coffee directly to the fine-mesh basket, then pour in cold water to steep. Fill level indicators make the whole process pretty foolproof. After 24 hours, the metal basket can be removed and you’ll be rewarded with a rich, smooth, highly concentrated cold brew coffee concentrate — no messy straining required.

Made of durable (and odorless) stainless steel and glass, the KitchenAid XL makes 38 ounces of cold brew concentrate or up to 19 servings (a 28-ounce model is also available for $80). The recommended ratio is 2 ounces of cold brew concentrate to 6 ounces of whatever other liquid you’re using. Its compact design fits snugly in your refrigerator and will actually look good there as well. The spigot makes it easy to dispense cold brew to enjoy anytime at home or on the go, and coffee will stay fresh for up to two weeks. Since the system lives in your refrigerator, you could even skip ice and not worry about diluting your brew.
