Today is National Hot Toddy Day and so we are under obligation to imbibe this classic warm cocktail. And while a traditional hot toddy will suffice, this extra-special version — with spiced tea, orange peel, bitters, and apple cider — is really the way to go.

To start, you’ll need to steep some tea along with an orange peel in some hot cider. After the tea has been steeped and you remove the tea bag, add in some bourbon and a dash of bitters. While you’re making the cocktail, the author suggests quickly shaking up some heavy whipping cream and bitters in a jar for an easy whipped cream.

Serve this hot toddy in a mug that has been rimmed with cinnamon-sugar, and garnish with the whipped cream and a twist of orange peel.

Now that’s how to celebrate National Hot Toddy Day in style!
