Its going to rain here (San Diego) so Im doing a couple baking projects. Gluten Free Graham Crackers, Key Lime Pie (with GF graham crackers as a crust) and an Apple pie for a friend at work. The weekend cant start fast enough :)
I think the boyfriend might kick me out if I don't make cookies like I've been promising all week. Just basic/delicious oatmeal chocolate chip with walnuts. Aside from that the cream biscuits recipe really sucked me in, and I am dying to do something with the frozen cranberries I've been hoarding!
I'm making homemade pasta too! It's been a couple weeks and I'm craving some baked ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach.
i'm just planning a crockpot chicken goodness...nothing as fancy as pasta (GO YOU!)
but i JUST have to tell you that i recently tried the EASIEST microwave spiced nut recipe...
brown sugar, salt, nutmeg and a microwave and BAM...best toasted nuts you've ever had that are UBER easy! more sweet than spice...but i LOVE that!
the recipebelow...we had visitors last night and they were just plowing handfulls into their mouths...good stuff, addicting...tread with caution, ha! ;)

and ps - those biscuits had my MOUTH watering...so those just might make the weekend baking cut :)
I just bought 3 ounce ramekins!!! Hurrah for kitchen accessories. I am really excited to make individual cobblers this weekend--plum/ rhubarb.
Also have some mustard and collard greens that I bought this week that need to get cooked--maybe with some white fish and pinto beans?
homemade granola, and if i'm lucky and organized, a (gluten-free Bob's Red Mill) chocolate cake for my son's birthday. not from scratch, but soooo good.
Key lime pie--that makes me think of summer, and that just makes me happy. Happy cooking everyone!
Mom's cooking this weekend! :-) We're celebrating Chinese New Year, so there should be some roast pig, spring rolls... can't wait!
(All Vegan): creole sausage jambalaya, tofu scramble with leeks/red peppers/chantarelle mushrooms, and mini glazed apple handpies.
Chicken chili and some kind of chocolatey dessert! Maybe just chocolate chip cookies... with extra chocolate chips :)
Based on the contents of my kitchen, I believe I will be making a quiche of some kind.
I just got my Spud organic delivery full of root veggies- so crocked potato leek parsnip soup with crusty rosemary bread!
Thinking about cream biscuits, chocolate almond ice cream, Momofuku brussel sprouts, and maybe, just maybe, bacon fat caramels....
I want a taste of spring so I'm making stock as we speak to do a leek risotto tomorrow. We just adopted a rescue pooch and even though we planned for him more than I'm sure we'll ever plan/prep for having a baby... I feel a little bit like my life has turned upside down. Hah. So I guess some comfort food/cooking, too.
just made this delicioso meal:
curried red lentils
greek yogurt
mint/cilantro chutney
peach iced tea
-cheap, easy, veggie, homemade
:::BOMBAY:::
Baked custard of some kind, granola, birthday cake.
OK, I purchased about 5 lbs. of beef marrow bones and want to try and make beef stock with the new Cuisinart stockpot I purchased a month ago. Sure, I've made chicken stock, but never beef. I am planning on roasting about 1/2 the bones for an hour, then simmering them for 8-12 hours, with the requisite veggies and straining everything.
But tonight is a NY strip on the grill because thanks to La Nino it is mid April in mid February in the NW. Sorry 'bout the snow.
joyosity--bacon fat caramels? Seriously? Do you have a recipe you can share?
I'm working on cabbage soup and baked potatoes tonight, chocolate chip cookie dough truffles for a cheese-making party tomorrow, and a pear hazelnut crumb pie on Sunday. That's all I've planned so far.
Chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting from the Barefoot Contessa At Home Cookbook for my girls book club. They're going to love me.
Also planning to try the wild mushroom risotto recipe in Mark Peel's New Classic Family Dinners Cookbook.
Just made died apricots dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with chopped almonds, simple but yummy. Sunday we have friends coming over for coq au vin with cauliflower and goat cheese gratin and some great bread from the bakery.
It's a friend's birthday and I'm throwing him a little dinner party. We are having Belgian beers, pulled pork on corn patties following a similar recipe to the "Ultimate Cheater's BBQ", and a 4 layer chocolate cake. On top of that, I'm making quiche and bran muffins for breakfast this week.
I'm making a big pot of parsnip and fennel soup.
We're having friends over Saturday night. Going to make the Jamie Oliver Chicken In Milk with mashed potatoes and roasted brussel sprouts. I think I'm going to make a s'more tart (graham cracker crust, pot de creme, marshmallow topping). Sunday we're having a brunch and am going to make a sweet strata with a praline topping.
S'mores cake, espresso truffles and chocolate boxes to put them in, and hopefully some more recipe testing for my school project: pumpkin churros, sweet potato pudding, sauces....not enough time in two days!!
Oh, haha mntwmyn, go s'mores!
Vanilla chiffon cupcakes, rose buttercream, lemon-vanilla marmalade, and macaroni and cheese. First time making the marmalade, so we'll see how that goes.
taking advantage of the indian cooking demo i went to a few days ago and diving in! Kadai Masala, second stab at Chana Masala and, on a non-indian note, shall be making bread for the week ahead.
Chicken pot pie and banana chocolate bread pudding, for sure, still debating Sunday. I'm thinking baked eggs for breakfast, and couscous fritters or risotto for dinner. Most likely risotto.
A) Simple one-pot braised chicken:

B) dutch oven biscuits
C) red velvet cupcakes
We have a very busy weekend so last night I pulled chicken soup out of the freezer and for tonight I've pulled out a lasagne. Sadly, this is almost the end of the meals I froze before my surgery in December. They sure were handy, even after I was well enough to work in the kitchen again.
Time to restock--I think I'll start with a big batch of chili.
i made home made ravioli last weekend with ricotta, spinach & mushrooms. . . and had tons of filling left over. So i'm trying to psyche myself up to make it again this weekend. Even borrowed my friends pasta machine so hopefully it won't take as long.
there is also some cookie dough in the freezer, I'll be guinea pigging some friends with first ever sandwich cookies on sunday.
I love weekend time to cook!
roasted root vegetables, slow cooker carnitas, kale chips for snacking and brussel/caramelized onion pizza :)
I have a chicken I need to cut up, so it looks like pulled-chicken tacos, grape-dill chicken salad, roast chicken thighs & drumsticks, and chicken & dumplings.
Leftovers will doubtless find their way into some sort of pasta bake on Monday night.
Oh, and I have half a pound of bacon to use up! Sunday brunch, anyone?
Having had a very stressful week, there's a lot of cooking planned. Pioneer Woman's short ribs, apple crumble, those cream biscuits you posted today, tomorrow garam masala chicken, dal, homemade naan.
going to check the local shops for funky indian spices because i THINK i have finally found a machchi korma recipe that will work... might also have a go at the cream biscuit recipe--my partner is a big fan of traditional english teatime... also butternut squash flatbread.
Banana rum French toast (on homemade whole wheat bread)
friday night - garlic parmesan baked chicken wings A
Saturday lunch - brocoli, spinach, chicken soup with whole grain macaroni A
Saturday dinner - TBD, if we end up going to a friends house it's going to be pizza and beer, if we stay home I don't know what we will have
Sunday lunch - pasta with homemade ricotta, one of my absolute favorites.
Sunday dinner - TBD
i might make another tiramisu since the one i made last weekend came out so delicious....
i need a lazy weekend and that's exactly what i'm having but the busy body in me is getting restless now that i've had a lazy morning. :o)
Sirloin steak:
http://coldcerealandtoast.wordpress.com/2010/02/19/beefing-up-my-repertoire/
Crab cakes, asparagus, red potatoes from the Farmer's Market.
Well, the menu for this weekend includes my very first roast chicken, a batch of Irish Soda Bread, and then some of Homesick Texan's Dr. Pepper Ribs! Yum!
Stocking the kitchen with new-to-me vegan foods (for Lent): black bean empanadas and vegan brownies are in the oven now. I'll also be making a much-requested Spanish tortilla for lunch tomorrow. But man...biscuits. I really want to make BISCUITS!
Currently in the middle of trying Farmgirl Fare's oatmeal toasting bread. I've never made sandwich loaves before, so every moment the dough is resting, I'm searching for tips and tutorials! Most concerned my pan is too small (8.5x4.5 instead of the standard 9x5).
@andreakazoo... if you really want a break from making fresh pasta, you could always sub for wonton wrappers, which are readily available in supermarkets these days.
No more cooking for me! Volunteered to help with an event today, from about 9:30 to 4:30, where I mostly did prep work (i.e. mincing garlic) and washed dishes. Chef made 14 dishes...for a group of 5 people, plus us, the student help.
The weekend started off w/gnocchi and marinara sauce, this morning was the oatmeal pancakes from Orangette (delicious and will remain in the repertoire as they were so easy), I've already taken my no-knead loaf out of the oven (this time w/fennel and garlic-the whole house smells like Italian sausage) and tomorrow night will be pot roast.
Makin' some more of that no-knead multigrain peasant bread.
Not too energetic this weekend...today it was just pan-seared swordfish with couscous and steamed broccoli. But I bought a chicken to cut up (was inspired by the video earlier in the week) and will probably do chicken piccata over spaghetti tomorrow. I also have lots of leftover ricotta from a lasagne I made that I really need to use, so after reading all the comments about ravioli-making, I will pull out my pasta maker and ravioli tray! We got cannoli to eat this evening, but maybe if I'll do choc chip cookies tomorrow, maybe not.
I've already made this recipe from 101 Cookbooks... twice.
Tomorrow I'm thinking of this approach for cabbage and then some homemade Girl Scout cookie knock-offs.
Candied Orange Peels. Turned out great. Thanks to the recipe of Happy Girl's Kitchen.

@Splim - I've seen the wanton wrappers at the store, and my sister has had tons of success with them. my hubby and I are such pasta-holics though, I love the real stuff. Carb coma, here I come!
@splim, I make an oatmeal toasting bread from The Vegetarian Epicure and it always seems to turn out just fine despite my novice bread-making skills. Some types of dough are more forgiving than others.
I made the cream biscuits! Mmmmmmmm. Easy and so delicious!
homemade bagels again and also a vegan gluten free apple blackberry crisp for a friend's mom :)
yum!
I didn't do much cooking yesterday aside from a quick supper of sauteed ribeyes, steamed asparagus and Pioneer Woman's potato bundles-
So...today, I have made Taco Soup, Stuffed Peppers in the crock pot (all to be put in the freezer), Barefoot Contessa's Spinach Gratin, Apt. Therapy's Shepherd's Pie (two for tomorrow, 6 for the freezer (I put these in mini pie plates), and finally, the roasted chicken The Kitchn posted a while back for supper tonight. PHEW! I'm in the home stretch and a little bit tuckered out!
I made whole wheat cottage cheese bread this afternoon, and soup - kale, white beans, and potatoes with leeks and olive puree. (That last addition owed to Paula Wolfert's book on Southwestern French cooking; I used spiced green and black olives instead of picholines, but it was nonetheless delicious in that soup!)
@ cmcinnyc - are you going vegan for lent?
even though i'm a few days behind I think i'm going to go vegetarian for lent, i mostly vegetarain anyway but am thinking I need to make the jump.
I made a whole turkey this weekend - my first! I was terrified of ruining it, and plus we had company for the occasion, but it actually turned out as the best turkey any of us had ever eaten. Hooray! I also made a batch of yogurt and cocoa mix, and then made a TON of turkey stock for the freezer.
This weekend, I made paneer, indian cheese and then cooked saag paneer (spinach and cheese curry). so good and its really easy to make paneer! i also made yogurt and peanut rice.
ravioli via pasta machine - EPIC FAIL! dough was too wet and too thin, filling was way to wet. but hey, that's how you learn, right?
however the beef stew was fabulously delish.
