What I Love: Anne’s Thrifted and Collected-Abroad Cookware Treasures

Earlier this week we peeked into stylist Anne Parker’s lovingly cared for kitchen in Portland, Oregon, and yesterday we learned a few things about her cooking style. We couldn’t close off this tour, though, without highlighting Anne’s collection of pottery, cutting boards, bowls, teapots, and other beautiful curios she’s gathered from nearby thrift shops, estate sales, and Paris flea markets. (She once lugged around a dozen hand-thrown plates for a whole day — they were just too pretty and too good of a steal to pass up!)

First off, Anne built this shelf with her dad to house all of her kitchen treasures. She made the bottom shelf just the right size for her rain boots after noticing there was no good place to store them in other parts of her home. This shelf is beautiful, and the items stored so neatly across it are swoon-worthy. Anne shows us that ingenuity and a love of secondhand can create a truly magical space and style; one just needs patience and attention, not a large budget or an interior designer.

Anne has an eagle eye for hand-thrown pottery (she finds it wherever she goes) and cutting boards of all shapes and sizes. The tea kettles at right are enough to make you want to stop everything and put the water on the stove and brew up a cup. Like the pottery and cutting boards, Anne is constantly finding teapots at thrift shops and on road trips to Santa Fe and the Berkshires.

This is a collection that’s taken a lifetime of curiosity and resourcefulness to pull together — all of it cohesive, despite its disparate origins. Cheers to the slow and steady approach when developing one’s kitchen style!
