Starbucks’ Spooky New Frappuccino Will Haunt You
When Starbucks rolled out its technicolor Unicorn Frappuccino in April, the internet lost its mind. Instagram was flooded with images of the glittery rainbow cups, and some stores became so overrun with requests that one barista suffered total meltdown from the “magical” mania.
Now all of that mayhem is about to begin once again as the coffee company prepares to release a spooky new Halloween drink — at least we think so.
Rumors have been flying (lurching?) that Starbucks plans to debut an epic Zombie Frappuccino that’s just as tricked out as its mythical-inspired counterpart. As far as we can tell, the source of the news is a blog that cites a trusted source for its intel about the forthcoming drink. If the source is to be believed, the ghoulish beverage will be made with a standard creme Frappuccino with electric green caramel apple powder and a pink-red powder swirl. There’s also allegedly a “pink brains” whipped cream and pink mocha drizzle.
Unsurprisingly, Starbucks representatives have been evasive about confirming whether this holiday drink is officially on the menu, saying the brand’s Halloween plans are “still under [mummy] wraps, but we look forward to sharing more details with the living soon.”
Since many of Starbucks’ latest releases have been based on customer creations (Pink Drink, Birthday Cake Frappuccino), there’s a decent chance that this news is the real deal — especially since baristas are already getting nervous about its debut.
The Zombie Frappuccino is supposedly slated to hit stores on October 26 and be on offer through the end of the month; however, if this garners as much hype as the Unicorn Frappuccino, it might not last much longer than a couple of days. So if you’re at all curious about trying one, you should probably suck it up and fight the crowds on day one.
And, in the meantime, you can get your fix with two similar secret-menu drinks that have become popular among fans: the Franken Frappuccino and the Wired Zombie.
