Zendaya Needing Stitches After Her “Clumsy” Cooking Accident Proves She’s Exactly Like Me

Earlier this week, Zendaya had a minor kitchen injury that landed her in the emergency room, and she took her 148 million Instagram followers along for the ride via Instagram Stories. The inciting incident wasn’t documented, and it’s not clear what dish she was trying to make, but the Euphoria star showed off a photo of a bandaged (but perfectly manicured) finger with the caption “See now … this is why I don’t cook.”

In the next Instagram Story slide, two medical professionals are stitching up Zendaya’s finger. We’re thankfully spared the gory details, and there is a triumphant resolution in the last slide — a blurry mirror selfie of Zendaya and her assistant Darnell Appling with her freshly stitched finger in the air and a smile on her face. The slide reads, “Baby’s first stitches lol back to never cooking again.” Right there with you, Z. Right there with you.

We’re glad to know that Zendaya is on the mend; hopefully Euphoria’s multiple Emmy nominations and the actress making Emmys’ history as the youngest producer nominee (and perhaps some ice cream?) will soften the blow. It’s a good reminder to us all to watch our fingers while chopping away on the cutting board.
