Happy 4th of July! Were you tasked with bringing a dessert to the BBQ today but totally forgot? No worries — these firecracker s’mores are the answer. Just head to the store on your way over to pick up supplies and you’ll be the hero of the party.

S’mores are a classic summertime treat, but this recipe turns the volume up a bit to make them holiday-worthy. While fireworks are going off in the air, they’ll also be going off in your mouth, thanks to the addition of both Pop Rocks and a chili- and Pop Rocks- spiked chocolate bar from Trader Joe’s.

If you don’t want the spicy chocolate or don’t have access to TJ’s, a regular ol’ chocolate bar will work just fine. The key here is getting those festive red and blue Pop Rocks into the s’mores. Not only do they look patriotic, but they are also just a blast (pun intended) to eat.

If there won’t be a fire pit at the cookout, you can still assemble these on a sheet pan and set them under the broiler for a minute or so to create a similar effect. Whatever you do, don’t forget the sparklers!
