I Just Found My New Favorite Frozen Treat and Need Everyone to Know About It
Do you ever have a moment when you take a bite of something and you feel like you’ve traveled back in time? I am usually not a sappy, nostalgic type of gal, but after taking one bite of Wyman’s Just Fruit and Greek Yogurt Bites (a new-to-me freezer aisle find that combines tiny Greek yogurt pebbles with frozen fruit), I felt like I was 10 years old again.
You see, my family was never big on dessert when I was growing up. Summertime was special to me for many reasons, but mostly because that meant that Dippin’ Dots — those super-delightful, flash-frozen balls of ice cream — were on the horizon. Every time we vacationed at the beach, my mom would let me get a small cup at the nearby convenience store and I remember racing to eat every last ball before it all melted in the hot summer sun.
That’s why the inner kid in me was so excited when I happened upon this box of Wyman’s. While not quite the same as Dippin’ Dots, the texture alone was enough to make me feel like I was on vacation at the beach. Behold:
Buy: Wyman’s Just Fruit & Greek Yogurt Bites, $6.09 for four 2.3 ounce cups at Target
My heart skipped a beat when I ate my first spoonful. Made with real frozen wild blueberries (the tiny ones), and flash-frozen Greek yogurt balls, this treat was an absolute delight. (Wyman’s makes a version with strawberries and raspberries too.)
The real blueberries throughout give this treat a natural burst of sweetness, and the frozen Greek yogurt bites give it a delightful creaminess. Just like the old days, I found myself racing to finish this frozen medley before it melted.
While the best part of these cups is no doubt the bits of frozen yogurt, this treat opened my eyes to the fact that frozen wild blueberries would make a pretty darn good dessert on their own too.
What’s your favorite summertime treat?
