Seemingly overnight, the leaves have started to change and we're officially in my favorite season: fall. While I'm not one to adorn my doorstep with cornstalks or hay bales, I do like to add a few warm, homey touches to my home to greet me as the days get shorter. And now is the perfect time to add a couple of new accessories to your living space during World Market's Friends & Family sale. Through October 8, you can save an additional 30 percent off almost everything site-wide. (Food & beverages are 10 percent off, and alcohol and gift cards are excluded from the sale.)
As always, World Market's site is packed with so many good finds, but here a few pieces I'm eyeing right now to give my home a fall facelift.
1. Sackcloth & Ashes Tribal Sunrise Blanket, $70 (normally $100)
The colors in this Southwest-inspired blanket remind me of the New England foliage, and I can imagine using it to snuggle on the couch with a book, or warm up at a football game. The machine-washable blend of wool, nylon, and acrylic means it's not only warm, but also easy to care for. Even more tempting? There are five colors to choose from.
2. Large Tonga Deep Bowl Basket, $45 (normally $63, further reduced from $73)
One of the best things about World Market is their selection of authentic housewares from around the world. This wide bowl basket is handmade in Zambia and would look beautiful filled with some persimmons or baby pumpkins for a festive display. Not a centerpiece person? You could hang it on your wall by itself or part of a larger display.
3. Antique Zinc Cargo Lantern, $18 and $25 (normally $25 and $35)
Imagine greeting trick-or-treaters with a candlelit front porch illuminated only by these zinc cargo lanterns. The base is generous enough to fit a fat pillar candle, but can also accommodate small tea lights for a different vibe. When spooky season is over, their simple, streamlined design can work with any decor or holiday.
4. Wood Slice Coffee Table, $161 (normally $230)
Reminiscent of a walk in the woods, this unique coffee table brings the outdoors squarely into your living room. Normally a bit of a splurge, the 30 percent off makes it a bit more affordable.
5. Mason Cash Large Cream Fox Ceramic Mixing Bowl, $32 (normally $45)
Mason Cash bowls are more than just a pretty face: durable and lightweight, they also come decorated with woodland critters (hedgehogs, anyone?) in a variety of earthy tones. The large bowl, which features foxes, also happens to be the perfect size for letting dough rise (perfect since I love making bread in soup weather), or just holding a big batch of popcorn.
