The way I ran to Whole Foods Market after seeing this one TikTok about “the best premade 🍪 dough.” It unveiled a previously unknown-to-me treasure trove in Whole Foods: a standing freezer case full of premade cookie dough — including the grocer’s popular brown butter chocolate chip cookies! Naturally, I grabbed the car keys and drove off to scope out the situation for myself (and all of you).

After scouring (I looked quickly) the whole store (the bakery section), I found the freezer case, aptly labeled “Bake at Home.” And it was FULL.

Full of cookie dough — both classic and brown butter, and in 18-count minis or four-count chunky — as well as croissants (plain, chocolate, vegan, and mini) and cinnamon rolls with icing. In the TikTok video, there was bread in the freezer but at this store, it was on a rack behind. It’s a cornucopia of everything I love.

What’s So Great About Whole Foods’ “Bake at Home” Freezer Case?

Choosing what to try first was a bit overwhelming (I am a Libra), but I decided to go with the brown butter chocolate chunk cookie dough ($6.49 for four) and the cinnamon rolls ($7.99, also for four). The cookies seemed like a step up from your average store-bought cookie dough, and I’ve yet to find a store-bought cinnamon roll that lived up to its hype. (Plus I was already making a trip to the store.)

Immediately after arriving back home, I preheated the oven to 335ºF, plunked the dough on a sheet pan, and waited about 14 minutes for them to bake. After waiting so patiently for them to cool, I finally could indulge.

Let me tell you: They are GOOD. These cookies are rich, gooey, and chocolatey. They prove that brown butter really does upgrade almost everything. While there were only four, they were pretty big. I also like that they are already scooped, so you don’t have to shape your own dough balls before baking. Plus, it feels extra convenient because it’s a plastic box (reuse it, babe) instead of a sleeve so that it’s easier to grab one and bake it if you don’t want to make the whole batch.

The next morning, it was time to make the cinnamon rolls. I’ve made rolls from scratch a few times and while it’s fun and rewarding, it’s a lot of work. These “Bake at Home” rolls are definitely worth their $7.99 price tag, especially since I live in NYC and would be paying the same amount for a single, and probably smaller, roll.

They’re simple to make: Let them thaw at room temperature for about an hour (or if you’re like me, you completely forget to put them in the freezer and leave it in the fridge overnight), put the whole tray on a sheet pan, and bake at 350ºF for 35 to 40 minutes. I baked them for about 30 minutes (because of my mistake), and thankfully they still turned out beautifully.

Canned cinnamon rolls are a solid option, and there are a number of simple hacks floating around — you guessed it, TikTok —that deliver delicious results. More often than not though, I want something bigger, fluffier, pillowy even, and overall just more substantial. These Whole Foods cinnamon rolls are exactly that. I think the picture says it all!

If you were serving a crowd for breakfast or brunch, have company, or just really love baked goods, then the items in this “Bake at Home” freezer case are going to be ideal for you. They make your life easier (and tastier!), and I love having a freshly baked treat with none of the prep.

Also, I’m unaware of any other ready-to-bake brown butter cookie dough at this moment in time (If you know of any, please drop them in the comments). You could very easily fool your guests into thinking it was homemade. It’s definitely a little luxury, and I deserve it (as do you). I will definitely be stopping by my local Whole Foods to try out the rest of the case.
