White Claw Just Launched a New Drink with More Alcohol — Here’s What You Need to Know
Just when you think White Claw can’t get any better (or become more popular), they prove you wrong. Today the company announced they’re coming out with a new drink that has nearly twice as much alcohol as the standard White Claw. Meet: White Claw Hard Seltzer Surge. The drink has 8% alcohol by volume, which is a large increase from the usual 5%. Surge will come out in just two flavors to start: cranberry and blood orange.
White Claw already dominates the competition for America’s alcoholic seltzer dollars, accounting for about half of all sales in the category, and is responsible for much of the rapidly increasing popularity of those drinks over the last half-decade. Even the cans, clutched in hands at music festivals, tailgates, and beaches, have become an iconic symbol of a certain style of event.
All that success has lead to even more innovation. Just last month the company announced that it was releasing iced tea versions of the drink, and now they’re coming out with Surge, which is available nationwide starting today! While the “crushability factor” of White Claw is a big part of the appeal — meaning you can keep drinking them all day, like a session beer — I’m sure this new drink will still become popular this summer.
In addition to the new, more alcoholic version, the company will release three new flavors as part of their promotional philosophy for the coming summer, which is “Let’s White Claw.” Get ready for the addition of strawberry, pineapple, and blackberry flavored drinks to your fridge — all of which will come in a new variety pack along with the current best-selling flavor, mango.
