Q: I dropped the lid to my five-quart round black enamel Cuisinart Dutch oven, smashing the knob but doing no other damage. Cuisinart does not have replacement knobs.

Without a replacement, this renders a $100 pot useless. Had I not acknowledged dropping it, they seemed ready to replace the entire item, which is as silly as not selling replacement knobs.

Any advice? When the knob on my Martha Stewart/K-Mart Dutch oven broke after many years of use, I replaced it with a cabinet pull from the hardware store. It seems to work just fine and hasn’t melted yet.

Editor: Pam, you can mix up your brands a little and buy a Le Creuset knob (black or stainless steel) from Amazon.

Readers, any other advice on finding a replacement knob?
