The countdown to the Olympics is on and we can't wait to see if Tom Shields will best Michael Phelps, if Simone Biles will dominate the gymnastics competition, and whether Usain Bolt's injuries, which kept him from the trials, will slow him down when it comes to the main event.
Getting ready to watch such feats of athleticism has us thinking about our own workout routines. While I generally find it's easier to get out and about during the warmer months, my summer regimen thus far has consisted of walks with my dog. No gold medals for me. But I'm getting ready to kick it up a notch. That boxing class I've been meaning to try? It's happening, and I'm dragging my co-workers with me.
Of course, recommitting to a regular workout routine also means figuring out the right workout snack. So, we're throwing the question out to you: What do you nosh on before, during, and after a high-intensity session at the gym, on the track, or in the park?
Do you have a favorite summer class you go to on the regular? What do you snack on pre-workout? Do you carb up or opt for a potassium-filled banana? During your workout, are you a fan of sports drinks or do you stick with H2O? And when you need to re-energize, do you pile up your plate with protein?
Tell us your smartest workout snacks and we'll share your best ideas later this week.
