Q: I just bought great steak knives, as recommended on The Sweethome. Unfortunately, this set didn’t come with a box or storage case. Can you recommend ways to store steak knives? I don’t like them bumping around in the drawer, waiting to knick each other — or me!

Editor: This exact issue has stopped me from buying new knives in the past. I’m with you on not wanting to store them haphazardly in a drawer. Besides the potential for damaging the knives, it’s just not safe. Luckily, there are a few easy solutions. I personally like in-drawer knife blocks, where the knives sit flat. If you have extra counter space, you can consider a small block specifically for the steak knives, or you can use a magnetic strip to store them on the wall.

Readers, how would you store steak knives that didn’t come in a block or with a case?
