Q: How do you get rid of an odor in a room? We have one room in our house that seems to have an odor, especially if the door is shut for a while. During warmer months it helps to keep the windows open. Even after new carpeting was installed, the smell was still there.

I have tried all kinds of concoctions — like baking soda, cleaners, disinfectant sprays, etc. — but nothing seems to permanently take care of this. Any ideas?

Editor: While the unpleasant odor you're dealing with might not be directly related to cooking smells, some of these tips just might do the trick.
