Cold and flu season is coming. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you that you don't get sick, but we can't do that for everyone, so chances are, you're going to have a friend who comes down with something in the coming months.
While we don't recommend rubbing in the fact that you're healthy as can be to your sick friend, we do suggest bringing her a little get-well-soon gift basket to cheer her up and help her get back on her feet.
A Sick Day Gift Box: Our Best Picks
- Candles (try these homemade beeswax candles)
- Fresh flowers, a succulent, or an air plant
- Rose oil and rosewater spray
- Throat-soothing candies
- A jar or two of homemade soup
- Some simple crackers
- A new pair of cute socks (we love these fun '80s patterns!)
- Adult coloring books and colored pencils
- Lip balm (try this homemade peppermint balm)
Pack all these things up in a cute, reusable box and see if and when your friend is up for visitors. Stress that you know she won't be presentable and that her house may be messy — and that you don't care. You just want to drop something off. If she's really under the weather in a bad way, you might want to save yourself and just leave the box at her door.
Some Soup Recipes to Try
If your sick friend is usually in charge of keeping her family running, you can also consider adding a casserole or making a bigger batch of soup. This way, the rest of the house can eat and your friend can stay in bed where she belongs.
