Q: I was recently in Prague and impulse-bought some “dried venison ham” on my last day. Now I’ve realized that I don’t have a good sense of what venison tastes like and have absolutely no idea what to make with it.
I haven’t opened the packaging, because then I’ll have to use it before it spoils, but it’s very dark in color, fairly lean, and is a bit tougher to the touch than a piece of ham. I don’t want to just eat it plain.
What foods (vegetables in particular) would go well with cured venison? How can I cook with it in a way that showcases its flavor?
