Q: I am due with my first baby in 2 1/2 weeks. All of our family and friends are on the opposite side of the country, and we live in a small town where meal delivery options aren’t that great. I’d love some recipe ideas that won’t make me want to tear my hair out as a new mom.

I was fortunate enough to have my mom come visit recently and she made some meals for our freezer, but I know they won’t last long. Slow-cooker recipes are good, but so are quick and easy things my husband or I can whip together. I’m not opposed to snack dinners, but I know that will get old fast, and I know I need to remember to keep myself fed, as well as the baby!

Editor: Sounds like you’ve got the leg up on pulling off cooking for your new family. The slow cooker and freezer are your friend. You can find a slew of those recipes on the site. We’ve recently put together a few posts on snacks for new moms in particular. Take a look, and happy cooking!
