For me, summertime typically includes a refreshing, fruity cocktail (or two!) poolside or at the beach. And while I enjoy leisurely sipping on these drinks, I like to spend as little time as possible mixing them. Sure, I could snag a canned cocktail. But many of them are too sugary for my liking. A glass of wine will also do, but I find it can be a bit heavy in the summer heat.

After trying my hand at a slew of cocktail combos, I finally found the one — and it’s the best summer spritzer I have ever tasted. It’s just three ingredients (one of which is ice!), is low in sugar, and contains zero artificial ingredients.

This Key Ingredient in My New Favorite Summer Spritzer

Now, a wine spritzer is not a new concept by any means. The mixture of chilled wine and bubbly water is a recipe that goes back centuries and continues to live on in infinite variations. What is new, though, is the bubbly. Waterloo recently launched a Passion Fruit Sparkling Water and it is pure delight. Not only does this canned drink contain just the right touch of passion fruit flavor, but it also has the perfect amount of effervescence. When mixed with a crisp wine, it is perfection.

Using a quality wine certainly helps make this drink worth drinking, so I opt for Avaline wines, which are made with organic grapes. To make the drink, just fill a wine glass with ice, fill it halfway up with white or rosé, and then top with the sparkling water. That’s it!

This new spritzer has become my go-to when I’m hosting friends for a backyard cookout or enjoying a sunny day on the water. I currently have a case of the seltzer on hand so I’m ready anytime a friend or neighbors pops in for a visit. If you want to try this combo, you should do it soon. The Passion Fruit flavor will only be available through late August or early September — or, what I like to call Summer Spritzer Season.
