Couples Share the First Thing They Cooked for Their Significant Other
Do you remember the first thing you cooked for your significant other? Was it a plate full of delicious pasta? Or maybe a chocolate cake for their birthday? Or waffles in the morning? In a recent thread on Reddit, people have been posting their go-to meals to impress their new love interest, and the responses have been pretty inspiring.
Many of the responses involved breakfast — French toast, waffles, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, crêpes, and breakfast carbonara. So, making your partner a special plate in the morning could be the way to their heart down the line.
I thought the crêpes were a particularly impressive first dish. Redditor costumeliz explained that they made “Crepes with Alouette garlic and herb cheese spread smeared on and then rolled, with a side of bacon.” And they went on to explain that “we’re married now, and have almost hit our ten-year mark as a couple.” Goals.
Breakfast carbonara seemed to be a big hit on the thread — it’s basically carbonara but for breakfast. Think: eggs, bacon, cheese, and starch. One user replied, “THANK YOU! I’ve made carbonara for breakfast so many times and always get told it’s not breakfast! Eggs pork cheese carbs, it’s practically an egg McMuffin!” while another couldn’t wait to try it out.
Beyond morning grub, users also discussed soup, like beef soup, jambalaya, and even matzo ball soup — I never thought that would be one! And Italian food, too, like baked ziti and crab spaghetti with lemon gremolata breadcrumbs. (That’s dedication now.)
A few more? Classic steak or salmon, slow cooker chicken, and other beef dishes. What I didn’t find much of? Tacos! What happened to #TacoTuesday as date night, people? I’m thinking it’s time to bring that one back.
So, either stray from the norm and make some tacos or check out the Reddit thread for some cute recipe ideas that’ll give your new flame a super special meal that hopefully they’ll remember forever, too.
