Kitchens are one of the most challenging areas to create storage space in — and they’re usually in desperate need of it. Big appliances including fridges, ovens, dishwashers, and sinks occupy most of the space, and unlike living room or bedroom furniture, can’t be easily rearranged. After filling your cabinets with dishes, small appliances, and pantry items, you have to think creatively to make everything else — oversized utensils, cooking oils, cleaning supplies, and more — fit.

One solution I’ve found to be pretty brilliant are these magnetic storage racks that affix themselves to the side of your fridge. They have shelves, hooks, and baskets for all kinds of things that would otherwise overcrowd drawers and countertops, but sadly, they don’t work on every kind of fridge. If you have a non-magnetic fridge, you’re out of luck. Or so I thought! I recently found a version that works on every kind of fridge — and as a bonus, it’s cheaper than many of the magnetic ones.

This storage rack uses suction cups on the top and side of your fridge to hold itself in place (and hold lots of kitchen essentials). At the top, it has slots designed to fit narrow boxes of aluminum foil, plastic wrap, or zip-top bags, as well as a wider slot for larger boxes, Tupperware lids, or an extra roll of paper towels. There is a convenient arm that serves as a paper towel dispenser, and beneath that, a wire bin for spices, cooking liquids, and oils. Plus, five hooks on the bottom for hanging tools such as scissors, bottle openers, and any utensil you want to keep in arm’s reach of your cooking area.

What I like most about this device is that it stores so many unrelated — but similarly useful — items in one spot. On their own, the kinds of things you can keep on this rack would all be in separate areas of your kitchen: paper towels on the counters, olive oil by the stove, aluminum foil in one cabinet, and spices in another. But now, all these things that get used on a daily basis are organized in an open and accessible place. In some ways, this rack actually makes your kitchen smarter!

If you want to buy just one thing to corral all kinds of kitchen tools and free up more precious storage space on your counters and in your cabinets, this rack is an amazingly hardworking and affordable option. And, because it uses suction cups to stay put, you can set this up on your washing machine for extra laundry room storage or on a cabinet in your WFH area to organize office supplies. A little bit of creative thinking goes a long way!
