New Year’s Day is all about starting the year off with a fresh start. We want to ring in the new year with foods that inspire good fortune such as black-eyed peas, and stock our freezer with mindful eats. That means we’re going to need to go shopping and we’re wondering if our go-to stores will be open for normal business hours on the holiday. Is Walmart open on New Year’s Day 2024 for our fresh-start shopping needs?

Walmart was closed on Christmas Day 2023, so it’d be fair to be worried it may be closed on New Year’s Day as well.  But there’s good news for fans of this superstore: Walmart will be open on New Year’s Day 2024.

Start the new year fresh and buy anything you need for the house or your busy lifestyle because Walmart stores will be open on New Year’s Day 2024 and in many cases operating with normal business hours, as they would any other Monday.

However, it’s still a good idea to call ahead and check in with your nearest Walmart location. Hours could potentially be modified or vary by location. Calling ahead or checking the store finder available on the website is the best way to confirm the store’s hours and not waste a trip.

If you need anything at Walmart on New Year’s Eve, there’s good news on that front as well. Walmart will be open on New Year’s Eve 2023. Walmart locations will be open during regular hours, which are usually 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. (though, again, this can vary by location). So, if you need any last-minute champagne flutes or party hats before the ball drops, this will be a great opportunity to get your New Year’s Eve shopping done.
