If you’re looking to break out of your Halloween recipe rut, take advantage of this viral hack, which puts a creative twist on the beloved party-platter classic bruschetta.

This recipe trend involves lathering a bunch of crusty bread with softened butter and toasting it. The creator in the video relies on ciabatta, but you can also use slices of a baguette, sourdough loaf, or focaccia. You’ll just want something sturdy enough to hold the juicy tomatoes and thick mozzarella slices.

@melissas_healthykitchen BOOschetta👻 Welcome to episode 19 of my spooky eats series. Today it’s how to make a super easy appetizer idea for spooky season, BOOschetta👻Sure to be a crowd pleaser! Next, assemble the topping by combining diced Roma tomatoes — or cherry, San Marzano, or any heirloom variety — minced garlic, basil, olive oil, salt, and pepper.

To create the cheesy ghouls, press a ghost-shaped cookie cutter into flat pieces of mozzarella. Then, top these slices on the bruschetta mixture and fill in the spooky character’s eyes and mouth with balsamic vinegar.

The internet is obsessed with this Halloween appetizer hack. The clip has reached nearly 23K views. One person commented on the clip, “These are just BOOtiful and so delicious!” While another user mentioned, “BOOschetta, the perfect appetizer for spooky szn.”

The creator of this trend also posted a few other genius ideas for the spooky season, like dipping strawberries in orange-colored chocolate to make a faux-pumpkin patch and piping out mashed potatoes in the shape of ghosts to place on top of beef stew. While there are plenty of things to be frightened of during Halloween, getting creative in the kitchen doesn’t need to be one of them.
