These Tortilla Chips Go with Everything and Somehow Stand Up to the Thickest, Creamiest Dips
We are Big Snackers here at Kitchn. We love snacking, talking about snacking, and writing about snacking.
Of course, snacking looks different for everyone. So we asked four of our favorite food people to build their ultimate Kitchn Snack Capsule, featuring one recipe and some store-bought snacks. Up next: Vianney Rodriguez from Sweet Life.
If you came to visit me on a regular basis in attempts to find the one snack that is always in my pantry, you’d quickly learn the answer: H‑E‑B Round Corn Tortilla Chips. I absolutely adore them. They go with everything, are plenty hearty (even when it comes to thick dips or loaded nachos), and their round shape makes them the perfect vessels for scooping.
As a familia we have been devouring H-E-B round tortilla chips for as long as I can remember. They are an integral part of our Thanksgiving table, a birthday fiesta must-have, and they even make their way to my annual Frio River trip. Adults and kids alike love them!
I mentioned the nachos already. My beloved tortilla chips are amazing with eggs and salsa, lots of pico de gallo, chili, and heaping scoops of tuna salad. I could go on and on, but what I really want to talk about is how well these chips go with Love Dip.
That’s right. One of my favorite ways to enjoy these H-E-B round tortilla chips, made with 100 percent yellow corn, is paired with another local favorite: the famous Love Dip from Central Market, which is owned by H-E-B. If you’re not familiar, Love Dip is thick, creamy, and brimming with a hint of sweetness from salsa. (I have my own recipe for it and, yes, I do make it using H-E-B ingredients exclusively.) Served with a stack of round tortilla chips, the combo makes for the ultimate snack.
There’s just one rule that you have to follow in my casita when eating these chips: If you happen to have any left after a snacking session, make sure you remove any excess air from the bag, then tightly roll up the bag and securely seal with double Chip Clips. If your tortilla chips should go stale, simply place them a baking sheet in a 350-degree oven for a few minutes to crisp up.
