Vegan, Gluten-Free, Raw: Emmy's Macaroons

Looking for a sweet treat near the checkout line at my local Whole Foods, I came across these packages of macaroons. Although they were pre-packaged, I noticed the ingredients lacked many of the additives usually found in processed food.

Emmy's macaroons contain only a short list of ingredients and no additives. Packaged three to a bag, they come in several flavors: coconut vanilla, dark cacao, chai spice, lemon ginger, choco-orange, and mint chip. All are gluten-free, vegan, raw, and organic. And they taste pretty good, too!

My favorites are the lemon ginger and coconut vanilla. These most closely resemble traditional macaroons and even taste fresh out of the kitchen, with chewy shredded coconut and a moist texture. They are dehydrated at 115 degrees and stamped with individual expiration dates to ensure freshness.

Emmy's Organics is based in Ithaca, NY and much of the distribution of the macrooons is centered around the East Coast. However, they also offer their treats online.
