Valentine's Day Contest! Inspire a Dreamy Meal

Valentine's Day Contest! Inspire a Dreamy Meal

We have a big basket of chocolate and a bottle of Infantado ruby port to give away for Valentine's this week. But instead of picking a random winner like we normally do for our Thursday Giveaways, we are giving you a chance to dream up a Valentine's meal and maybe win a special treat for staying in instead of going out.

This is a lightning-quick contest, so listen up...

Let's all stay in this Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day is not so hot out in the restaurant world - the tables are packed, servers are tired, and chefs are harried. The same rich dishes get trotted out as you're elbow to elbow with another couple; it's not the most intimate of environments.

Staying home, however, is a chance to have it just how you like it. The expense of a meal at a good restaurant will buy you a small feast at home - maybe a whole truffle, to be shaved over luscious pasta? A bottle of excellent wine, to be enjoyed in private? A tip-top steak, cooked just the way you want it?

There are so many sweet and seductive ways to cook for two at home - we suggest you try it and dream up your ideal Valentine's meal. What inspires you?

If your inspiration inspires us too, you could win a big basket of chocolate and a bottle of port, provided by the National Confectioner's Association and The Greene Grape Wine Company.

Here's all you have to do to enter:

Dream: Dream up your perfect three-course Valentine's Day meal, with a photo for inspiration. Perhaps you're inspired by that trip to Greece last year, or a visit to the country. Maybe you're inspired by Champagne and Casablanca or roast chicken and kisses in Notorious. Check out our Celluloid Pantry archives for more movie inspiration.

Plan: Scour our recipe archives and Epicurious and come up with three recipes for your meal. They can be anything you want, as long as they follow from your inspiration.

Submit: Submissions should include:
• Your photo inspiration, whether it's a photo of a place, something small in your personal life, or a still from a movie.
• Your three recipes, with full links so we can find them online
• A brief paragraph on how this meal was inspired.

Submit each of these items through the form below.

We'll be posting at least two of the submissions each day, in tandem with a complementary Romantic Bedroom for Valentine's Day contest at our sister home sites - maybe even matching meals with bedrooms for some sly Valentine's Day fun.

On Wednesday evening we'll choose our editorial favorite and they'll have their wine and chocolate shipped off to them in a hurry! Check back on Thursday to find out who won.

So get cracking - what kind of meal will you inspire us with this stay-in Valentine's? The quicker you enter this one, the better...
