What are you drinking on Valentine’s? (Or, for that matter, Chinese New Year, President’s Day, or Fat Tuesday?) A little later today we have a roundup for you of creative and delicious Valentine’s Day cocktails. But first, let’s consider breakfast. Why not start the day off with a spiked mocha? Here’s one recipe that looks so good; we’d love to curl up with a hot mug of mocha on this snowy weekend!

This recipe actually has a distinguished lineage; it’s part of a recently revamped, yet classic desserts menu at The Ritz-Carlton hotels. So even if you’re not spending the weekend in a swanky hotel, you can bring your Valentine something fine to drink in bed.

This is a very simple recipe, too — no milk frother or espresso maker needed, although you could top it with a dollop of whipped cream or foamed milk if you desire.

VS Mocha Café
makes 1 mug

1/4 ounce Rémy Martin V.S.O.P.
1/4 ounce Godiva Dark Liqueur
1/2 ounce Kahlúa
1/2 ounce Chocolate Syrup
6 ounces fresh, hot coffee

Preheat a coffee mug for 30 seconds with HOT water. Empty water and add Rémy V.S.O.P., Kahlúa, Godiva Dark and chocolate syrup. Fill with hot coffee to 3⁄4-inch.

Garnish with whipped cream and shaved chocolate, if you wish.
