Schitt’s Creek’s run may have ended, but during its tenure, it provided endless laughs and entertainment. What it didn’t provide was all that much cooking inspiration, though food was a frequent focus of the series!

Whether the Rose family and their neighbors were eating at the local diner (which they seemed to do just about every meal), or discussing how to “fold in the cheese” like Moira and David while recreating a recipe, it was always a good laugh. And for fans of the award-winning series, there’s now a chance to create your own laughs with a new cookbook inspired by the series.

Aptly titled Tastes Like Schitt, the new unofficial offering is serving up recipes based on dishes at the fictional Café Tropical, as well as what a meal from the Rosebud Motel or Jocelyn’s home kitchen may have looked like.

In all, there are 75 recipes included in the book, from appetizers and drinks to entrees and desserts. These pages include familiar dishes like the Rosebud Motel Cinnamon Rolls, Jocelyn’s Dorito Casserole, Write-Off Risotto, Mall Pretzels with Shame Sauce, Twyla’s Meadow Harvest Smoothie, and even Herb Ertlinger’s Wine Spritzer. I mean, clearly, if we’re going to attempt to recreate these dishes, why not have a cocktail nearby?!

Tastes Like Schitt: The Unofficial Schitt’s Creek Cookbook is set to be released on October 25, 2022 at $19.99 for a hardcover copy and is available for pre-order now.

Schitt’s Creek isn’t the first iconic TV series to get the fictional cookbook treatment though. There’s an official Gilmore Girls cookbook, too, for anyone who covets those evenings of takeout and Luke’s Diner.

These cookbooks may be the best possible way of having dinner with our favorite fictional TV families — outside of our dreams, of course.
