There are two types of people in this world: Those who eat ice cream all year round, and those who only eat ice cream in the summer. (And then there’s our News & Culture Editor, Ni’Kesia, who doesn’t eat it all — as I’m sure you suspect, we are no longer on speaking terms.) I, however, am the former, so when I got the opportunity to try the entire lineup of new frozen treats from Unilever it was a no brainer!

To give you an update, Breyers, Klondike, Talenti, and Magnum are all bringing you new flavors to get a little taste of summer right in the middle of winter. From classic summer flavors like Breyers Berry Cobbler to boozy pairings like Talenti’s Strawberry Margarita to Magnum’s non-dairy options, there are a ton of delicious treats to choose from.

Luckily, I did the super hard work of trying ALL of them for you; you know, so you don’t have to. And honestly, because I love a lot of ice cream flavors — from the classic to the unconventional — it only made sense that I was the one to take on this life-changing challenge. I would like to note, though, that if anyone knows how to eat coated bars without the chocolate breaking so much, HMU. Here’s my honest review.

Only Two Ice Cream Flavors Got a 10/10

There were only two options that really, really nailed it for me: Breyers’ Very Berry Cobbler and Talenti’s Caramel Pretzel Blondie.

My initial reaction after tasting the Very Berry Cobbler was literally “Mmm!” It tastes just like cobbler and, by definition, summer. My only critique is that while the crumble part is evenly distributed, I wish there was a bit more. I’m not big into fruits, so this is my ideal way to get a serving of fruit.

Prior to tasting, I was very excited about the Caramel Pretzel Blondie. I love a good sweet-and-salty combo and, as I suspected, this did not disappoint. It’s a good balance of flavors and it only leans a smidge more towards salty than sweet. My verdict? “Oh, I’m keeping this one.”

Klondike Cookies N' Cream

The Runners-Up (9/10 and 8/10)

9/10

  • Klondike Cookies N’ Cream: Nice crunch. The chocolate syrup isn’t necessary; it’s kinda too much.
  • Klondike Reese’s Peanut Butter and Chocolate: Peanut is strong but not overpowering and the core is like straight PB; the core, however, isn’t easy to eat.

Klondike Vanilla Caramel Classic

8/10

  • Breyers M&Ms Mini Caramel Fudge: Subtle caramel taste; Mini M&M’s are superior, but without them, this ice cream is more basic.
  • Klondike Vanilla Caramel Classic: Nice core that isn’t frozen solid; nuts and caramel balance each other and the caramel doesn’t overpower; would eat again.
  • Magnum Chocolate Duet Bar: Nicely intact, chocolates meld nicely, and raspberry is subtle.
  • Magnum Non-Dairy Classic: Chocolate coating is good; inside you can tell it’s not dairy but it’s still good and a perfect lil’ snack!

And for your viewing pleasure (also my reviewing pleasure, too), I’ve created a spreadsheet to show you just how serious this selection process was. Please enjoy it, ty!
