I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but absolutely nothing about 2018 makes sense. An 11-year-old who yodeled at the end of a Walmart aisle is now a Coachella superstar. One critic is suggesting that Adam Sandler could become an Oscar frontrunner. And now more than 88,000 people have liked a $135 unicorn coffee mug on Facebook.

Go ahead and read that last sentence again. ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS. For a coffee mug with a horn that you will inevitably stab yourself in the gums with. One Facebook commenter suggested that the horn was “perfect for stabbing anyone who speaks to me before I’ve finished my coffee,” which, on second thought, might justify part of that price tag.

“It’s completely acceptable to be obsessed with a coffee mug,” Etsy wrote in a Facebook post about the mug. “Trust us.” In the month since that photo appeared, more 88,000 people (more than the population of Duluth, Minnesota) have given it a virtual thumbs up, and more than 7,000 people have commented.

Although the comments section is filled with #MugGoals, it also has a few people who have questioned whether any mug should really cost more than 30 Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccinos. “I don’t know about any of you, but if I broke this mug, it would ruin my year,” one woman lamented.

According to the mug’s creator, an Etsy shop called Modern Mud, part of the price is the customized nature of each piece and also the fact that its handle and horn have been accented with 22K gold. Each mug is custom made and you can even have it personalized for another $12. (With shipping, the cost of a mug with your name on the side of it balloons to $162 — almost as much as a top-of-the-line Keurig K-Elite coffee maker).

If the mug is little beyond your budget, fortunately Modern Mud also has a unicorn tea cup for the low, low price of $108. I guess it’s worth it if you want to make your breakfast feel off-the-charts fabulous.

What do you think? Would you spend $135 this unicorn mug?
