This Personalized Cutting Board Makes Meal Prep Fun and Easy (Bonus: It Makes a Great Gift, Too!)
I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for a good cutting board. Last year, I told you all about my absolute favorite cutting board: the Cooler Kitchen cutting board. Housing six separate BPA-free plastic boards within the body of the wooden block, it still has a dedicated spot on my counter. Now, while I’ve been privy to some new cutting board launches since then, nothing has enticed me enough to buy a new one as I feel like the one I have is truly perfect for both me and my space. However, there is one board out there that caught my attention a couple of weeks ago. While browsing Uncommon Goods for a fun Father’s Day gift, I took a look at their kitchen section and laid eyes on the Personalized Bamboo Cut and Prep Board Set. Reader, let’s just say that this cutting board is one of the coolest ones I’ve seen in a long time.
Designed to take the mess and stress out of meal prep, this cutting board features a genius design that’ll get you excited about chopping your veggies. Featuring a built-in slide scraper that makes getting everything off the board a breeze, it couldn’t be easier to use: Simply chop your veggies, slide them into the recessed section on the left, and use the slide block to scrape everything off the board and onto a plate or the matching Mise en Place serving board. Best of all, you could also use this section to collect your scraps and garbage as you prep. Whatever you choose, you’ll no longer have to fight with finicky seeds, raggedy ends, and tomato juice floods!
As for the build, these boards are constructed from architectural bamboo and come finished with a homemade board butter made from food-safe mineral oil and beeswax. (Like most wooden cutting boards, the brand recommends hand washing and treating it with mineral oil every now and again to keep it looking like new.) It also has a tiny magnet that holds the slide block in place as you move the board so you’ll never have to worry about misplacing it. Our favorite part, however, has to be the personalization that makes it a great gifting option for everyone from home cooks to newlyweds.
Available in two sizes (9×10 inches and 12×16 inches), these boards start at $55, with the prep board and Mise en Place serving board duo coming in at $75. So if your kitchen could use an upgrade, why not give this cut and prep board a shot? Now if you excuse me, I’ve got an order to place — I think I’ve found the perfect Father’s Day gift!
