Mulled wine is one of the joys of the holiday season and something I really enjoy sharing with those I love this time of year. Beyond simply making a batch to share with visiting guests, I also think it makes the perfect gift to give to a friend or family member. It’s easy to assemble and hard not to love. Here’s how to make it.

How to Turn Mulled Wine into a Holiday Gift

It couldn’t be easier to turn mulled wine into a holiday gift. Use our slow cooker recipe as the inspiration and go from there. Place two bottles of dry red wine and a small bottle of both brandy and maple syrup inside a festive gift bag. Fill a tea strainer with a cinnamon stick, a star anise pod, and couple of cloves — add that to the gift bag as well. Then just write up a recipe card to go with it.

Then it’s just a matter of who the lucky recipient is! This is an easy gift to batch and give to your extended circle. It takes no time at all to assemble and it’s a gift that’s sure to keep your friends and family warm and cozy throughout the winter.

A Note About Which Wine to Buy

One extra tip to keep in mind: This isn’t the moment to splurge and give your family and friends that extra-expensive bottle of red wine. Since the wine is going to be sweetened, spiked, and infused, a pricy bottle would be wasted here. Instead, go for something that’s wallet-friendly and easy-drinking. Any favorite everyday bottle of dry red wine — from Cabernet to Malbec to Shiraz — will work perfectly. So just pick up your favorite and gift away!
