TRUFF’s Black Truffle-Infused Pasta Sauces Have Ruined Me for All Other Sauces
As big fans of pasta here at Kitchn, we’ve spent countless hours covering the subject in the name of finding the best sauces out there. Whether it’s a new jarred pasta sauce that rivals the authentic ones back in Italy, or classic homemade recipes that stand the test of time, we can all agree that we like to get our pots dirty and try something new.
Although there are plenty of sauces that we can all say hold special places in our hearts, there’s one brand that I’ve been looking forward to trying: TRUFF. Known for their truffle-infused products like truffle-infused hot sauce, White Truffle Oil, and more, I was itching to finally try a product from the brand’s line — and the new black truffle-infused pasta sauce seemed like the perfect place to start. It’s my version of the whole “new year, new me” thing, but with food!
Whether you’re shopping in the world of direct-to-consumer products or standing in front of a wall of pasta sauces at the grocery store, it can be a bit overwhelming figuring out which sauces to experiment with. While it’s easy to stick to what you know, TRUFF does an excellent job at convincing you to grab one of their jars instead.
Like their branding and jar design, the two newest choices are simple. First you have the Black Truffle Pomodoro. A commonly used red sauce in many Italian dishes, this is your classic tomato-based sauce. Pomodoro is designed to be your go-to red sauce and can be used to experiment with your favorite dishes. Then there’s the Black Truffle Arrabiata — a blend of ripe tomatoes, herbs, and a healthy portion of red chili peppers. The pomodoro is what TRUFF had in mind when they were referring to an “elevated experience.”
So far, I’ve used both jars with two different meals, and I’ve got to say, I am sold. Once you get past the steep price point (two jars retail for $29.99), the flavor each jar packs is worth every single penny. Neither the Pomodoro nor the Arrabiata need any extra seasoning, and both pair amazingly with my favorite pasta dishes.
At first, I was worried about the spiciness of the red chili peppers in the Arrabiata, but they did not overpower the sauce at all. And while the black truffle is prevalent, in both cases it balances really well with the rest of the ingredients. To be honest, after this, I’m not sure I can go back to non-truffle pasta sauce.
What is amazing about the TRUFF brand as a whole is their dedication to cooking — and that shows through their website tenfold. By listing recommended recipes to try their sauces with and giving you breakdowns of the ingredients and how they coexist within their products, TRUFF is educating us in the process of exposing us to something new. What makes TRUFF different from other jarred pasta sauce out there? The brand’s attention to detail and love for what they do. And that’s something we can all get behind.
